How many people will I live with? I can choose who my flatmates are or are they selected for me?
Oxley Hall offers en-suite rooms within 5‑bedroom cluster flats, each with shared kitchen facilities. While we cannot guarantee how many flatmates you will have, you may be placed in a flat with anywhere from two to five students.
Returning RIASA students will be able to indicate which fellow student‑athletes they would prefer to live with, and we will do our best to accommodate at least one of your choices.
New students do not have the option to select who they can live with.
What’s included in the room and how is it set up?
Each bedroom contains a single bed, desk with chair, wardrobe, bedside table and bathroom. Shared kitchens provide wall and base units, sink, freestanding fridges and freezers, microwave and hob. On site, there are two laundry rooms with a total of eight washing machines and dryers available across both rooms. What is the process of getting packages delivered at Oxley?
All courier drivers deliver tenants’ parcels to Reception, where they are stored in the office for security. To ensure parcels are stored properly and returned to the correct students, Oxley use an app called Parcel Tracker. When parcels arrive at the office, Oley staff use the application to scan the label on the package. The device reads the details and asks them to confirm whether the information shown on the device matches the details on the physical package. If the information matches, Oxley confirm the entry and the student is automatically notified by email that their parcel has arrived. The email includes a QR code, which students must present to Oxley staff when collecting their parcel.
Are there any live in staff who can help me if I am struggling?
The live-in staff are known as Oxley Student Ambassadors. If a student is experiencing difficulties while reception staff are not on site, they can report the issue to the Student Ambassador so that it can be recorded and raised with the management team. Once Reception staff return, they can speak with the student privately to discuss their concerns and explore possible solutions, offering support to ensure they feel comfortable approaching Oxley staff at any time. Oxley staff strive to ensure all tenants feel that Oxley Residence is their home away from home, supporting them throughout their stay.
What’s the best thing about living at Oxley?
Oxley is situated just outside Leeds city centre, in the Weetwood and Headingley area. Weetwood is a quiet, leafy residential neighbourhood known for its green surroundings and peaceful feel. It’s close to the livelier Headingley area, which offers a range of shops, cafés, and pubs. Larger green spaces, such as Meanwood Park, are also nearby. The area is well served by frequent buses along the Otley Road corridor, making it easy to reach Leeds city centre in roughly 20–30 minutes.
